I just got one on my right thumb, while not extremely painful, uncomfortable.

Yes.

But today's controllers are pretty well designed, so It hasnt happened in a long time.
Don't take life too seriously. You'll never escape alive.

I used to get blisters with the NES controller.

Punch Out (Wii) actually managed to give me one.

I'm not sure if blisters/callouses are a result of too much gaming or of Nintendo making awkward controllers.

When I was younger, I played Super Mario Kart on snes. It was my first time playing that game and I played it until my thumbs were raw. .
