Exclusives a bad idea? Well, I disagree with that statement but I suppose it's nice that they are working on a new engine. Source engines generally require a lot less power.

to an extent 3RD party exclusives are bad for both the customer and the company

I suppose 3rd party exclusives almost never take full advantage of the systems (at least not after the 16-Bit days) and the time involved in porting could have been used for something else... But what do you mean when you say it is bad for the company?

Valve needs to shut up and run Steam. They by far the most over rated game developer on the planet.

Half Life
Left 4 Dead
Portal
Counter Strike
Team Fortress

Good luck trying to make a top 10 PC games of all time list without including entries from those series. Think, McFly, think.

Only one of them deserves to be in/near that list. I don't hate Valve but they are not that good.

That's your opinion, Half Life set the score for shooter campaigns with each title being very well received. Portal is one of the more unique titles this generation and Counter Strike no matter the version is still one of, or just outright the most competitive shooter still on the market.

If CS, one of the most popular shooters to ever hit the PC and most successful mod ever and also Portal are not up in the top 10 of PC titles I don't know what would be there to replace them.

Exclusives are usually some of the more unique and best games on a console. If anything, exclusives push for creativity and innovation. Multiplatform titles merely try to push sales, which is why almost every single FPS copies CoD these days.

In SA2, it's Super Sonic and Hyper Shadow.

I don't want my blueray player to only play movies from certain studios. Why can't I apply the same logic to my game console?

On the other hand, they're very slow with releasing things and are known for endless delays. They've been using the same engine for quite a while.

Sure, they're a developer that consistently puts out high-quality games and they respect their fanbase and treat them very well, but... I think they don't deserve to be called one of the best developers ever, merely because everything they develop take so long and because they've been milking the same engine for so long already.
