The ps3 has sold as much as the 360 when the 360 had a year head start?

Nintendo is a failure compared to PS2

Nintendo made more money and sold more systems and games during this generation (Wii/DS) than Sony did during last generation.

including the DS? cheating aren't we?

You said "Nintendo is a failure compared to PS2", not "Wii is a failure compared to PS2". Even Wii alone probably beats PS2 in the profitability department, although PS2 was obviously a bigger success in other areas.

No. Nintendo still made the least amount of money overall.

LOL no. Gaming profit only, Nintendo's made BY FAR the most money.

Comparing entire companies, Microsoft obviously made the most while Sony lost money this gen regardless of whether you're talking gaming only or the company as a whole.

That chart's bull.

Saw this coming, when you have a country with one of the biggest, if not the biggest, gaming populous in the world and they almost unanimously snub one console in favor of another, it's bound to happen. I'd like to see just the US and UK numbers. Though i have both systems so glad they're both doing well

As if nationalism doesn't exist in favor of the 360. The 360 is only in this race because of its huge lead in the US - how is it fair to exclude Japan but include the US?

The PS3 sells better than the 360 everywhere but the US.

That is what the market share gets you. Europe is only a few million consoles ahead of North America, when it comes to PS3. Which makes the NA market the second largest market for PS3. While NA is the largest market for the X360. Whereas Japan is the third largest market for both the PS3 and X360.

Actually looking at the numbers, the PS3 is further behind the X360 in NA than the X360 is behind the PS3 in Japan. Heck even going by largest market of both, X360 (NA) is farther ahead of PS3 (Europe), than the X360 is behind in Japan.

So now is your chance to tell me why we should cross off numbers 1 and 2 in total market, in favor of number 3 in both markets.

Uh, what? The point was that crossing off countries is idiotic, not that the US or EU should be crossed off. Why exclude Japan just because the 360 does poorly there? That is his logic. Japan doesn't want the 360 so we shouldn't include the PS3's success there, and yet the US's nationalism is the reason for the 360's popularity and it should be included still.

The 360 and PS3 used to be very alike. Obviously their success in the US/JP markets is in part to nationalism on both sides.

The PS3 is becoming more successful worldwide and that is not a debate. Excluding foreign countries that the PS3 succeeded in where the 360 did not is pure fanboy logic.

Not surprising. 360 hardly has any exclusive series anymore(most are going multi-plat).

Nintendo can bounce back.

Virtual Boy anyone?
Science is interesting, and if you don't agree, you can f*** off.

Oh that's cool. Good job to Microsoft and Sony, I'm sure they are both happy with the money they have made.

I have both systems so I dont care one way or the other. Im sure most feel the same way I do.

Hahaha, sorry, but no it isn't. It's the official operating profit numbers as listed in Sony's, Microsoft's and Nintendo's financial reports, using gaming division only numbers for Sony and MS. (The numbers end in 2011 since these divisions became too diluted in other products by then.)

Since Sony and Nintendo report in Yen, their numbers have been converted to USD using the average monthly exchange rate for the respective years. Note: 1981 to 1989, Nintendo's fiscal years ended August 31 while 1990 forwards they end March 31. (Thus, FY/E 1990 is 7 months.) Sony's fiscal years end March 31, Microsoft's end June 30.

It doesn't matter if PS3 sold better than 360 or not, because they both got whipped by Wii.

Which itself doesn't matter because it's the Wii.

Nintendo are the only company to make any money from their console this generation. Your only saying that because nintendo are beating pretty much everyone at the moment.

not true both sony and ms have been making money off there respective systems since 2010. what is funny about that is that sony started to make on the ps3 6 months sooner then ms on the 360... look it up im to lazy to find you links at this point seeing as this is the millionth time i have had to correct ppl.
