Amazing Sequels That Surpass The Original

#101kingofthekidsPosted 11/29/2012 8:57:55 PM(edited)
Assassin's Creed 2
Batman: Arkham City
Borderlands 2
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Devil May Cry 3
Diablo 2
Fallout 3
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
LoZ: A Link to the Past
Mass Effect 2
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 4
Silent Hill 2
Skyrim
Super Mario Bros. 3
Super Metroid

The worst sequels I ever played were Devil May Cry 2, Dragon Age 2, and Parasite Eve 2. Though each has its merits as an individual game, as sequels go they were all huge disappointments.

It's pretty sad that I am having a real hard time with this.

Seriously?

These people are meat virgins. They'll be taken by the grill and delicately and tenderly be shown the ways of flavorful meat love. The first time is beautiful.

Super Mario Bros. 3, Red Dead Redemption, Portal 2, and Guitar Hero II just off the top of my head.

Arkham City
Portal 2
Mass Effect 2
Prototype 2
Lego Batman 2
Assassin's Creed 2
Dark Souls
Just Cause 2
Red Dead Redemption
Uncharted 2
Killzone 2
Resistance 2
Dead Space 2
Infamous 2

There's probably more, but I think that answers the question.

me2 is so overrated. me3 had the best combat, visuals, dialogue, etc., and me1 had the best story (because me2 ruined it later, and me3 was the final nail in the coffin) and most exploration (even if it was mostly to barren planets with lots of re-used assets).

i never played ac1, but everyone tells me ac2 (which i really enjoyed) was a huge improvement.

Maybe I'm just an old fart, but I'm shocked nobody's mentioned Ms. Pac Man yet. Or Super Mario Bros. for that matter.

I agree with ME 3 being better, and in every aspect. I think the ME 3 storyline was great too, even better than the first 2, except for that ending, or whatever that was. Still can't believe they did that. Even the "fix" they did sucks.

And yeah AC 2 was a big improvement. But personally I dislike the gameplay on AC games.

I'm not being sarcastic when I say that I didn't realize the gaming community considered any two games with similar names but utterly seperate plots with no similarities in setting or cast to be prequels/sequels. I wouldn't even consider games like The Elder Scrolls or Castlevania to be true sequels, but other, totally seperate stories in the same world.

Zelda 3, as a sequel to Zelda 2. Zelda 2 didn't quite surpass Zelda 1. Metroid 2, also. Diablo 2.

Jogurt attacks! Inflicts 1 point of damage on the Goblin. Goblin is defeated! Jogurt gains experience.
...it appears that Jogurt's level has increased to 1.
