Well I played the demo of XIII and is was fun.
I played MVC2 and liked it as well

So here are some questions I have..

Hows the online for both? (Lag,playercount, lobbies, problems?)
Which is better for offline?
Story?
Which one has better game modes?
Which one is harder to get into and learn a character?

Both are 30 , don't know which one to get.
Help me guys!

Hate to say it because I liked KOF a lot better however Marvel has a prepared lobby system. The netcode on KOF is pretty horrendous if you encounter folks with weak bars. That said when you find someone with green bars those matches are fine. I suppose it's situational. Still I think Marvel grants more player slots, I could be wrong.

Which is better for offline?

Gameplay? You ask me it's KOF is more in-depth. We get to use EX moves which brings an interesting dynamic to the game. It could enhance or change your special attack. You may also cancel any move you do into another move. Marvel allows you do cancel moves but if it's a super you're forced to switch your character. KOF on the other hand can work a special move > Super > SDM (Max 2 Super) which can really prove to be a crowd pleaser and sway the match in your favor. It utilizes the stamina meter that can be rerchaged per hit. The more stamina is gained the more you can cancel whatever you want.

Marvel by comparison has X-Factor. Which increases the characters speed and attacks to unbelievable advantage. Some say it's cheap it's bad enough MvC3's combo's are so easy mode that 1 touch equals death. Now X-Factor serves to make the match end faster. Although they have toned down X-Factor since the original MvC3. None the less UMvC3 is more "looser" with their combo system. It's far too easy for someone like X-23 to lock you into an infinite loop. KOF also has infinites, I have found KOF's considerably harder.

Story?

KOF is known for it's impressive story. This is very well documented in the fighting game community. I could go into it but something tells me you'd be better off looking it up on wikipedia. UMvC3's story is pretty random and obscure.

Which one has better game modes?

I really enjoyed KOF's color edit mode that let's you unlock costume items so I'm voting KOF.

Which one is harder to get into and learn a character?

Personally? I felt KOF is more difficult and more rewarding. Marvel it's easier to pull off resets and 100% combos and it's actually encouraged within the community. KOF you gotta work for that damage. Would you prefer to get a game where 1 touch equals doom or would you like to play a game where if you find yourself at a disadvantage you would stand a better chance at mounting a comeback?

Both are 30 , don't know which one to get.

KOF has a very fluid and beautiful anime style. I realize it may be frowned upon for being a 2D game in a generation which appreciates 3D more. 2D requires more effort to create and is less marketable. It's ashame considering the artists put their hearts and souls into creating this gorgeous art. KOF is apart of a dying genre the last breed of 2D fighters. I think it's important we recognize that.

The characters and teams, like MvC are from other IP's. You have a coalition of games Fatal Fury, AOF, Pyscho Soldier, Ikari Warriors (arguably good games) plus the original characters which makes this a sweet deal. It's known many SNK characters are indeed charismatic, most of them got a deep story. If you're a firm believer in 2D art and if you value gameplay then go KOF. If online and popularity is what you care about then UMvC3.

KoF is a better game, but you'll have smoother games and more opponents online with UMvC3.

Dont support cashcoms crummy game. King of fighters has fun game play, a cool roster of character and great HAND DRAWN artwork.

I'd go for KOF13 but UMVC3 most likely has more people online playing it

I think KoF is the better game, but it would not be fair to recommend it without mentioning that the online experience is lacking. Ultimately, the choice is up to you and where your priorities lie.
