Buy Far Cry 3 (my game of the year) and don't bother with Hitman. It had a bunch of extremely baffling design choices that made it hardly enjoyable. For example, if you reset to a checkpoint in the middle of a level, the entire level is reset to the way it was at the start of the level.

If you liked the old Hitman games, I'd buy Far Cry and rent Hitman.

Since money is a factor, rent both games and spend the other ~$50 on a game or something you know you'll enjoy, or just save it. :)

Probably something minor he will blow up into some major via hyperbole. You know if some game even has ONE bloody minor issue or odd design decision it will be the excuse of some moron on the internet to use as his excuse to hate a game.
