My stepdaughter loved Kingdom for Keflings, Crackdown, viva piņana, and halo 3 when she was around that age.

Stimulate her brain and get her puzzle games. Don't let her become a waste to society.

A Wii.

Most people get arrested for telling a 9 year old to play with their Wii.

How many mods does it take to screw in a lightbulb? They won't, since it TECHNICALLY didn't violate the TOS, but you'll be modded if you say there's no light.

Fez

It may be a little too tough for her though, getting all of the regular cubes isn't too hard, but getting all of the anti-cubes really make you rack your brain.

I was going to recommend FEZ (XBox Live Arcade) as well.

It's perfect for the 8 and up demographic. You'd be surprised how much more creatively a child with think with that game than an adult will.

Any of the LEGO games if you're okay with mild cartoon violence. Especially the Pirates and Harry Potter games.

Kameo
Viva Pinata
Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie off of XBLA
Beautiful Katamari
Limbo (maybe, depending on her personality and parent's attitudes towards cartoon violence)
Geometry Wars
A bunch of Kinect stuff like Haunt and Fruit Ninja
