Doctor states that there is no link between violent crimes and video games

The contention that people have isn't whether games turn people into killers, it's whether violent media (including video games) increases aggressive tendencies and/or desensitize us to violence.

Desensitizing people does NOT turn them into a killer.

Neither do genetics.

It's already a known fact that people can be brainwashed or hypnotized into doing things they wouldn't normally do and never remember any of it, neither genetics or media consumption has anything to do with it.

I think violent games may have some effect on individuals who already have a predilection towards violence. Maybe it even aggravates this tendency.

But even if that's true, it's irrelevant. That's the price of freedom.

"The subject's sense of safety and morality remain entrenched throughout the experience, however. A hypnotist can't get you to do anything you don't want to do."

Someday you'll stop spewing complete and utter bulls***.

Ooooooh look, it's a "how stuff works" page.....made for little kids....

Someday you'll learn not to trust the first thing you read and instead do more RESEARCH into things.

If you're seriously going to claim that brainwashing is a myth, you should just shut up before you start, because a few different suicide cults would prove you wrong instantly. Start with the Jim Jones cult, 918 people dead, 303 of which were children killed by their own parents who then committed suicide right after.

There was also a show about Hypnotism on TV a few years ago (Discovery channel IIRC), they took one guy, put him under, and got him to perform a simple act, taking an envelope out of his backpack, opening the packets inside, and dropping the contents of those packets into someone else's drink in a public restaurant. Something that if the situation was right would have led to someone's death. He was convinced to go through with it in just 3 hours of hypnosis and had no memory of the event even after being shown video of themselves potentially poisoning someone.

The whole line about "can't do things against their will/morals" is bulls***, always has been, because people can still be lied to under hypnosis. They can be told that what they're doing is a simple thing, that it won't hurt anyone, that it's "all just a game" and they'll still go through with it even if they wouldn't have done so when they were fully conscious.
