Anybody that says any year in the past 25 years is the worst year in gaming ever really needs to learn about the gaming industry crash that happened back then.

And no, we are not heading towards a similar crash now.

Worst ever, no. Worst this gen, barring maybe the first year? Maybe, but I can't help but feel my opinion is skewed by the last two years being some of the best for gaming ever.

for my 360 and 3DS it was one of the best

for my other systems it was okay

as per usual next year will also probably be great, just most likely for a different system

this year got tales of graces F, The last story, xcom enemy unknown, dragon's dogma, and other titles that I immensely enjoyed.

I wouldn't call it the worst, but it was far from the best, IMO.

I've only bought maybe 5 games this year, and 2 of those were disappointments in some way to me (ME3 and The Witcher 2).

Combine that with all the unmittigated greed that is going on, and it is easily undertandable why some people think this year was bad. Sadly, that greed part probably isn't going to get any better until customers wise up and stop falling for certain things.

It was pretty bad IMHO.
I mean sure it had Halo and another CoD but by this point it's just Halo and another CoD.
I guess buying the WiiU was exciting. Only because of the gamble I took that it won't be the Wii all over again. As in collecting dust for years between uses. So far so good though.
Tales of Graces F was okay I guess.
Overall looking back I just kind of feel like *heavy sigh* about this year.

I'm guessing everyone forgot about 2009?

That was easily the worst year this gen.

Games I considered truly great that year: Dragon Age: Origins, Batman Arkham Asylum, Left 4 Dead 2, Borderlands and Assassin's Creed 2. Then there was Uncharted 2 and Demon Souls which I didn't play due to lack of PS3.

This year had Mass Effect 3, Dragon's Dogma, Max Payne 3, TTs The Walking Dead, Sleeping Dogs, Hitman Absolution, XCOM, Borderlands 2, Far Cry 3, Dishonored and I know I'm forgetting several great games.
