Is there a reason im getting really low FPS in games on my new 360 S?

In games like assassins creed 3 and certain areas in skyrim I get really low fps. The thing that puzzles me is that in Black ops 2 I get absolutely no fps drops. I'm thinking the reason is that I'm using a 1680 by 1050 pc monitor with a cheap HDMI to DVI cable. Any thoughts?

Your problem is that you're trying to game on a 7 year old system. AC3 and Skyrim have all kinds of framerate drops on the x360. The only reason Blops 2 runs well is because it's rendered at an extremely low resolution.

So your basically telling me that theres nothing I can do except buy a PC if I want maximum FPS?

Yeah unfortunately. For some games, FPS are pretty bad on console and theres nothing they can really do but lower the visuals. Farcry runs at like 19-24fps on consoles and that's just tragic. Other titles like CoD run at 60fps iirc, but thats not too common. Thats probably why you're not noticing it on BO2. 30 is about the norm for consoles.

Are you installing your games?

Games like Skyrim will hiccup as they read data to stream the game in. It's not a framerate issue it's a loading issue because it's not consistent.

Im playing Skyrim right now and it runs pretty good and looks nice. I play on a 360 elite from 07.

skyrim should have pretty good framerate on 360. your standards may be too high.

Still hoping for a Shenmue 3.

Is this your first week playing the 360 or something? It is well known that the Call of Duty series is one of the few shooter series that run at 60fps and it also well down that bigger games like Skyrim rarely maintain a consistent 30fps. Hate to say it, but welcome to console gaming!
