What are some things put in various video games that you hate or just annoy the hell out of you?
Some of mine:
-Following/tailing missions in Action Adventure games -Escort NPC missions in any genre. Typically Action Adventure or RPGs -Random Battles in RPGs -Long distances between checkpoints in games that rely on autosaving systems.
Undefeated lifetime. Currently playing: RE6, Forza Horizon, Sleeping Dogs, Far Cry 3, Xenoblade Chronicles
Cinematic QTEs Escort quests where the escort is stupid shakey-sniper rifle scopes but pistols and smgs with laser accuracy that can hit said sniper effortlessly from all the way across the map puzzles. Puzzles in games are 90% terrible rehashes and I'm tired of doing tower of hanoi and mirror reliagnment for the millionth time.
Irony is a maginot line drawn by the already condemned
-A game that has smart enemy AI but the friendly/teammate AI is dumb as a bag of rocks. -Escort missions in sandbox games. -Annoying underwater levels. -Enemies that have one hit instant kills(Especially in RPGs)
Auto saving. I've seen it cause so many glitches and I just prefer that it does not exist. I also dislike being unable to save anywhere. I'm fine with no saving in the middle of a battle, but outside of that it's just lazy to not allow to save anywhere. Save points basically just announce "hey, there's a boss battle coming"
No retry options on a battle if you lose it, especially in games that don't allow you to skip cutscenes.
Inability to skip cutscenes or even speed up the cutscene. That cutscene that was good the first time sure sucks after the 10th time you go through it because you keep losing the battle that comes after it.
Limit on the number of save slots, especially with games on a device with a memory card or hard drive. I can get the limit with a DS game where you store on a battery (though those limits are often too small), but why have a limit on a 360 game where you should only be limited by the amount of free space on your hard drive?
Nah, dodging them is just as bad. By the time you get done juking out some monsters in DQ you may as well have fought them, gotten the money, exp and loot. xD
Turning them off would be nice. But also kinda pointless. It would be like turning off enemy soldiers in Call of Duty.
Or turning off deaths in spelunky.. o_O
I know it was nice in Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. Running from dungeon to dungeon or back to town across these big open central zones would get really dull fighting the same enemies over and over. I actually found myself overleveled and that's never fun. Money, loot, exp were never in short supply and being able to dodge the battles sped up the game and kept me from getting bored in the middle bits.
Not having a DIY save system. Only running on checkpoints or only being able to save at certain places is maddening.
Quicktime events. I've never felt they were appropriate in any game.
Not having a checkpoint immediately following a cutscene the comes before a boss fight. Nothing quite like watching the same 2 minutes of video over and over again.
