I know it was nice in Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. Running from dungeon to dungeon or back to town across these big open central zones would get really dull fighting the same enemies over and over. I actually found myself overleveled and that's never fun. Money, loot, exp were never in short supply and being able to dodge the battles sped up the game and kept me from getting bored in the middle bits.

On topic,

Not having a DIY save system. Only running on checkpoints or only being able to save at certain places is maddening.

Quicktime events. I've never felt they were appropriate in any game.

Not having a checkpoint immediately following a cutscene the comes before a boss fight. Nothing quite like watching the same 2 minutes of video over and over again.



Well, I guess it just depends on the game. Though so many have 'repels' that I've never had an issue with it. xD

Heavily disagree. Just make most enemies non aggressive and have a few rare ones that go after you. Or better yet, make them chase you *until* you outlevel them, at which point they leave you alone unless you engage them. As for call of duty, ironically the way most people play veteran mode on CoD games is to not engage enemy soldiers most of the time and just sprint past them to get checkpoint to checkpoint.

Or, at least on the 360 and PS3, she could use her own profile, with its own saves.

Anything less than fully customisable controls.

Save systems that look like you can save anywhere, but then you are taken to a safe house or summink when you load.

Unlocks that require some hard as nails condition to be met with no alternative (button combo, time counter, etc.)

Unskippable cutscenes.

Lack of new game+.

Most escort missions.

Pickups that don't split, ie., I have 299/300 bullets, I walk over a box of 100 and it disappears giving me 1 bullet.

DLC that splits online communities.

Collectibles with no way of tracking which ones you have.
