Play it at night time

Expect a possible nightmare that night.

It's nightmare fuel.
The guy you play as is kinda afraid of the dark but the dark is the only place to hide. Imagine what that's like.

0-0
holy s*** that's scary
no joke
what are the enemie's like.

if someone told you or you spoil it yourself it will take away what makes the game epic scary.
Play the game and find out.

That's the best possible way to experience the game.
I promise you will get scared.

Fatal Frame 2 (PS2, Xbox) and 3 (PS2 - Both games might have Wii ports as well).

Probably the first game too, but haven't played it myself.

Oh, and Amnesia is very good, another recommendation for that.

Corpse Party for PSP is also a blast. Definitely unsettling and disturbing, if not outright scary (Play with headphones).

Horror games don't really scare me too badly. Games that have a "spooky" atmosphere do the job way better imo.

Shadow of the Colossus creeped me out a good bit. Especially the first flying colossus where you have to swim to a platform. The first time you play, you don't know if there's anything down there.

A game that scared me when I was younger was the first underwater stage of Mario 64 and that eel. You know what I'm talking about.
OH, another one is Banshee Boardwalk from Mario Kart 64. I wasn't able to play with the music on when I was younger; scared me way too much xD

EDIT: I haven't played Amnesia yet, so maybe I should do that...

Amnesia: The Dark Descent. I couldn't even finish the beginning before paranoia got the better of me. Upon reading walkthroughs I learned enemies don't even show up where I was yet.

I'm still amazed they didn't release amnesia on Xboxlive... wtf are they thinking! Look at the success of minecracft... Now, it won't do that good, but it will sell, I would buy it!
