A reason to why you don't see a game requring 8GB on the PC is because the PC versions are currently, for the most part, the console versions at a higher resolution. The PC games are currently also made for 32-bit OSes, not taking advantage of 64-bit.
Don't forget that the consoles aren't simply only for gaming anymore, they are offering more and more stuff.
The more and more stuff doesn't take more memory, though, than any game the console is going to run. Even 64-bit game applications on PC's rarely take more memory than their 32-bit counterparts, with exceptions that only include design software that isn't going to be run on a console by normal users anyway.
The "more and more stuff" take more memory if we are supposed to be able to do things at the same time. For example, imagine being able to pause the game to look something up on the Internet with the built-in browser, then just go back to the game again, all seamlessly. --- Super Mario Kart is the single best Mario Kart ever!
8 is way more then enough. These aren't pc's to run a zillion programs... That said, whoever has more ram next gen ps4 or Xbox... Will have better ports like the 360 wins 95% of the ports with better frame rates.
Hey Tc your dumb, 8 Gb is plenty. Did you know ram can come in different speeds? did you know 16 gb of ram is only needed for editing programs. Since the wii u is so under powered these game company's better not try to be a PC cause the steam box will DESTROY them. Its not all about processing power unless your building a rig for 2200 and no-ones gonna pay that for a sex box. the ps4 and xbox crappy better not try to throw us really powerful machines cause it will be the end of days for those companys
