Does anyone use their 360 controller with their PC? I need some help.

I'm looking to buy this controller:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Microsoft+-+Xbox+360+Wireless+Controller/2589153.p?id=1218503724374&skuId=2589153&st=xbox%20controller&cp=1&lp=4

It says it's compatible with the 360 and PC, and I'm gonna be using it on PC. The only problem is that I'm not sure if it has to be constantly plugged into USB to work. I tried to connect another wireless 360 controller by USB, and it didn't work. My computer is new, so that's not the issue.

But, if someone who owns this controller walk me through what they did to get it working, and how they use it, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

You need a wireless adapter for the PC

http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Wireless-Gaming-Receiver-Windows/dp/B000HZFCT2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1358712233&sr=8-2&keywords=360+wireless+adapter

Or you could buy a wired 360 controller. The charging cable won't work, the charging cable only charges, it doesn't connect through the cable,.

Yup you can't just connect with the charger/usb if it's wireless you need an adapter.

Unless you'll be sitting really far from your PC while playing I'd recommend just getting a wired one. I have one of the afterglow controllers and it works really well.

Wireless controllers will not work without a wireless receiver.

Like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0076HD2W8/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_3?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000HZFCT2&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=14R6RMWMKP9KQ575B81X

^ cheaper but shipping is $7. If you have Prime that comes to the same price as the first party adapter. But it looks like a descent alternative.

or if you are lazy just look in the PC section @ best buy, they should sell a wireless controller with the adapter in a bundle.

Probably like 60 bucks tho.

Or you could just, you know, buy a wired controller. Much easier.

I don't recommend getting any of those 3rd party wireless adapters as they are kind of iffy. The only way to get the official adapter is to get the Windows 360 controller that it bundled with it. It's the exact same controller but the adapter official.
