Do you notice the difference between 30fps and 60fps in a Video Game?

It's easily noticed, but 30 fps is enough for the majority of games I play.

Some exceptions include 3D fighting games (e.g. SoulCalibur), for which 60 fps is mandatory. I don't play competitive FPSs but I'm sure framerate is huge there too.

Otherwise, the difference between 30 and 60 fps boils down to "it's fine" vs "this is nice."

Edit: going below 30 fps is pretty bad though. 30 is really the minimum for a game to look OK. Just OK.

Games will never be locked at 60... Why? Cuz some Dev's want more eye candy. So by putting games at solid 30 they can make nicer looking games, with more going on screen. More enemies, explosions and anything else.
Unless... Next Gen tv's can't run games at 30 fps? Or it doesn't look right... But, that will maybe be the next, next gen :)

not unless it drops from 60 to 30 or im seeing them side by side. I cannot how many frames id see in a second but i can tell there is a difference.

How can you not tell the difference?

One is buttery smooth the other feels a little slow and sluggish

This is absolutely not true in any way.

It's just something trolls use as ammunition to hate on games (like the new DMC) when they have no valid reasons. They force themselves to see a distinction that isn't substantial at all.

Are you trolling?

Or just completely oblivious?

I like the new DmC, but what he said is 100% correct. Sounds like you are another oblivious gamer who has no idea what hes talking about.

I notice it very easily. It's not like I try to, it just jumps out at me.

I only notice when there's a direct comparison. I don't care about it enough to notice it on a game to game basis, because there are better things to worry about.

The difference between v-sync and asynchronous rendering is far more jarring for me.

If you can't notice the difference I suggest seeing a doctor.

Relax, it's just a game.
