Without getting into the impact of games on real life, here's something to consider:
Of the 106 Xbox 360 games given retail releases in 2012:
60 (56.6%) were violent in nature (combat was a major component of the game)
22 (20.8%) were sports or racing games
9 (8.5%) were casual titles (angry birds, various kinect titles)
15 (14.2%) were not violent in nature, sports, racing, or casual games basically this would be the "other" category (mostly licensed games)
A few games could easily be in the violent or "other" category, like FFXIII-2, Amazing Spiderman, etc. and in those cases I mostly put them into the "other" category.
Is this what the industry has become?
