How did you last die in a Video Game?

In Xenoblade my lvl 83 party went up against a lvl 90 Telethia. We lost, but I was impressed that they managed to get it down to the last 1/4 of it's health.

Having a normal enemy whose attacks are an instant kill is NOT good design. Hopefully the inevitable unofficial Skyrim patch will fix

Or just... you know.... don't provoke them.

In about 150+ hours i've never once been killed by a giant where I wasn't asking for it.

Every one i've ever faced has given me the "That's close enough" warning. Either heed it and walk around him, or be strong enough to take him down. No patch needed.

Giants are not 'normal enemies.' They're non-aggressive, only occur outdoors, and can be seen from far away. If you rumble with a giant it's either because you wanted to (in which case you know what you're getting into), or... I don't know how a giant sneaks up on someone, so that's a player fail.

Which was kind of the joke I was going for when I posted my last death.

I failed...... pretty damn hard.

I think I just wanted that mammoth kill too much.

My Vampire got launched into the stratosphere by a Giant.

He was pissed because I killed his mammoth.

I was cocky because I saw ONLY the mammoth.

Sorry for the double post, but this is why Skyrim's inferior to Oblivion. Having a normal enemy whose attacks are an instant kill is NOT good design. Least only bad levelling in Vanilla Oblivion will get the same result; no enemy in Oblivion touts an instant kill move, aside from bosses maybe, and that's a big maybe. Hopefully the inevitable unofficial Skyrim patch will fix Giants having Avada Kadavra stuffed onto their clubs and feet :/

I kinda have to side with vigorm0rtis here, Giants aren't 'normal' enemies (you don't face them on a regular basis unless you are specifically trying to hunt them down) - same with Mammoths. They aren't aggressive unless you get too close, mess with their Mammoths, or attack them. Besides giants, most enemies scale with your level - if I remember correctly.

Man, all this talk about Skyrim really makes me want to play it again...

Oh, I got that, other dude started down the 'old ES games better than new ES games' path, I'd really like to quarantine that kind of behavior and keep it on the ES boards. (as much as possible)
