Well that's just you. The rest of us realize how awesome it is to strap a bunch of guns and missiles to car and do battle against other cars.

First of all it is of course JMO. Secondly, saying "the rest of us" isn't entirely accurate since the car combat genre is a very poor selling genre and has been for years. This tells me that not only do developers realize it isn't worth the investment but also when they do make one of these games, like the latest Twisted Metal, they don't sell.

Car combat games are boring. They are basically an FPS or TPS where the character can't strafe and can't turn on the spot, but can move forwards very quickly. Imagine if your character in Halo or whatever suddenly responded like that.

However I disagree with your first point. It makes no sense at all. Cant move forward quickly? You're in a car, and its called acceleration. That's what I like about those games. Some cars are fast and zippy with lower armor, then you have your slower heavy armored tank types, and everything in between. Where as in most fps everyone has(generally speaking) the same base level stats. Car combat games give you an option to play the game based more on your preference. Plus, how is it not badass to be speeding through a city at 100mph firing rockets, dropping mines, pulling the e break into a 180 degree turn and firing your special weapon at your pursuer and watching him explode in a fiery wreckage? Boring my fanny.

You mis-read it. I said you're swapping strafing and turning on the spot for higher forwards speed. To me, that's a poor trade-off.

Ah I did misread. But you miss the point of car combat games then. The point is that you're in a car, so of course you'll turn like a car. Otherwise yea, you can play an fps.

Vigilante 8 is on the arcade marketplace . Only 400 points IIRC. I have it and its dlc. I think it's pretty fun

I had it for dreamcast and played it a ton. It holds up alright, but I wish we had something newer.

The only reason Twisted Metal didn't sell is because it's not multi-plat.

360 owners have a greater affinity for car combat genre than PS3 owners? Hmmm, I doubt it. The thing is, even with years of supposedly pent up demand for something in the genre, almost nobody wanted it. I see VGChartz has it at 600K sold, with another PS3 exclusive Uncharted at 9 times that.

i'd rather play a space or airplane dog fighting sim, atlest in those games your not stuck in one plane of movement. dog fighting>car combat always and forever.
