Fun Poll. Generally speaking across all games and genres, whether it's progressing trough the story, side/secret mission or challenges ect... The first 7 options are the ones that came off the top of my head but i know there's more out there. If you have any stories to share feel free to do so.

Personally mines is escorting. I can't stand babysitting slow moving targets that can't defend themselves.

It's a steady 4-bar connection".

An Englishman, an Irishman and a Scotsman walk into a bar. The barman looks at them and says: "Is this some kind of a joke?

Escorting or stealth. Stealth wins out if you don't get any options to save during it and have to start over again each time you mess up.

Escort this one-hit-death ally to a point miles away, through Ninja Sniper Minefield. Oh, and if enemies spot you, back to the mission start. Also if you happen to get to the objective, the ally's wayfinding will glitch, resulting in him running into a wall whilst he shouts taunts at the enemy and making glib comments about your performance.

Escorting by a wiiiiiiide margin. Nothing is more annoying than having to protect characters a dozen times weaker and more useless than myself.

Although if by "overpowered NPC" you mean, an enemy that you're supposed to lose to to progress the game, then that's a very close second. It never occurs to me in video games that I'm expected to fail in order to continue playing. It's counter to the entire ideology of gaming.

Let's go with Escorting, with a dash of Delivering for flavor.

Yep that's exactly why I HATE Dead Rising 1 & 2. The entire game is escorting idiots around. That and the story is so stupid, which doesn't help because it makes me just want to kill these people I'm escorting myself. Oh and time management. I do that in real life... I don't want to do that s### in a video game.

Yeah, I agree that escorting is a real pain in the arse.
It wouldn't be so bad if the people I am escorting had the same amount of health that I did, or can take some damage, and have decent ai.
But way too often they are extremely weak, can't take much damage, and are dumber than a rock. And to make things worse, the Developers decide to swarm enemies at you that give you little time or ability to protect them.
You will fight like maybe a half-dozen enemies at a time throughout the game, but then when you are escorting some mindless NPC, the game throws about 20 or more enemies at you. WTF !?
