Yeah Sony tends to think long term .. really long term. I cannot even remember when the PS2 came out but it just recently ceased production, right ??

Xbox was dropped right when 360 released,

No, Xbox was dropped when Nvidia quit manufacturing the GPU, so MS could no longer manufacturer the Xbox, prompting a rush to get their new console on the market, so that they could actually have one on the market.

Considering I don't really care for games developed in Japan, I'll probably stick with the next Microsoft console.

I'm going to assume you started gaming either this gen or last gen then, and it's very possible you only game on Xbox consoles.

Actually I started on a dedicated Pong console in 1977, then an Atari 2600, Apple //e, NES, Commodore Amiga, Genesis, SNES, TurboGrafx 16, 32X, PlayStation, Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, Wii, Xbox 360, and a PS3.

Man, I sure hope you played a lot of games developed in Japan during those generations even though you "don't care for them", otherwise that would be a long and painful gaming career IMO. A lot of the best games/franchises in gaming history came from Japan.

While I do not completely avoid Japan-developed games, I'm not very fond of them. I won't refuse to play a game because it was developed in Japan, but I find I do not like the design choices they make. There are some exceptions, notably Pro Wrestling on the NES and the Fire Pro Wrestling series - those are excellent games that succeed in spite of their stereotypical Japanese elements.

I have had a full gaming life without any Japanese-developed games: Wizardry, Ultima, Wasteland, Championship Karate, Taipan, Pitfall!, Dr. J and Larry Bird Go One-On-One, Archon, Computer Quarterback, Adventure Construction Set, Temple of Apshai, Elite, Lode Runner, Summer Games, Winter Games, Test Drive, Blood Money, Maniac Mansion, Lemmings, Wings, Populous, Powermonger, Sim City, Civilization, SSI Gold Box D&D games, Bard's Tale, John Madden Football, NHL, King's Bounty, Might & Magic, Secret of Monkey Island, Settlers, X-Com, Sid Meier's Pirates!, Worms, Theme Park, Theme Hospital, Star Control II, Stunt Car Racer, Grand Theft Auto, Dungeon Keeper...and that's just going to the late 1990s and skipping over a bunch I have forgotten over the years. :-)

You mention those wrestling titles, but what exactly is so bad about other Japanese developed wrestling games, like those developed by AKI or Yukes for example? Do you really think U.S. titles like WWF In Your House or WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game are that much better than WWF No Mercy or WWF Smackdown Here Comes the Pain?

Did you ever play series like Super Mario, Metal Gear Solid, Ninja Gaiden, Street Fighter, Castlevania, Final Fantasy, Sonic the Hedgehog, Virtua Fighter, Zelda, Daytona USA, Silent Hill, Okami, Shenmue...or decide not to? They are developed extremely well with excellent game mechanics, and came from Japan.

LoL at the comment that Nintendo is losing money.
The Wii-U is NOT losing money.
It is actually selling better than both the PS3 & XB 360 currently.
Just because the Wii-U isn't selling as good as the original Wii does NOT mean that Nintendo is "losing money."

And Sony is NOT "killing" the PS3 anymore than Microsoft is "killing" the XB 360.

Man, some of you guys need to stop acting like chicken-littles, running around proclaiming that the "sky is falling."

I never said games were overpriced at $60 - I said the market is not sustainable at that price. Casual gamers can get their fix through $2 games on their phone/tablet. They are not going to buy $300 systems with $60 games at a significant rate any more.
