Someone want to explain what was wrong with ME3's ending to me?

I love how people complain about the Mass Effect 3 ending while no one hardly talks about the Deus Ex: Human Revolution ending which was essentially the same thing.

Because it wasn't 3 games long and touted repeatedly that your decisions in early games would have huge implications in the third/at the end...essentially that it would be "your own" universe.

And (more importantly in my mind) the antagonists' motivations and logic made sense, there weren't any huge plot holes, the game didn't suddenly transition from sci-fi to fantasy, the consequences of Jensen's actions weren't ambiguous, and Jensen wasn't railroaded into acting completely out-of-character.

I was fine with DE:HR's ending.

The main issue with the endings is that it makes you not want to replay the trilogy. All the choices you make do not matter at all.

Remember how Shepard was going to go to trial after the Arrival DLC? Well, that would be "too boring" for the player. Remember how you chose Anderson to be the Councilor member? Well, he gets replaced by Udina anyway. Remember how you killed the Rachni Queen? Well, magically, another one came around. Remember how you chose to keep the Collector Base? Well, the Illusive man still does not like you.

Not to mention, but in Mass Effect 1 and 2, you fought a final boss. In Mass Effect 3, a final boss, in Casey Hudson's eyes, "would be too video gamey"...
-_-

The man has an ego the size of the moon. He thinks giving the player a bunch of high faluten ambiguity is artistic/stylistic and full of intelligence. To me it just spells one word: L-A-Z-Y

The extended cut fixed a lot of the problems with the original ending.

my ME3 ending with, (2 of my ME2 crew members died due to not doing their missions with priority, their names are inscribed on the memorial wall instead).

I think the people that still complain about the new ending have not played it again to watch it.

Spoilers about the biggest complaints of the original ending below (highlight text below)
The original ending:
- was terrible because your Normandy crew lands on an abandoned planet assumed to be stranded there and the game ends with no explanation about what happens to them afterward.
- all allied galactic army forces were assumed to be stranded at Earth with limited resources and no way home. (the new ending clarifies that the mass relays were rebuilt and all denizens were able to return home to normalcy)
- The citadel and all its inhabitants were assumed to be destroyed. The new ending shows that they survived and it was rebuilt.
- If you choose to destroy the Reapers: It is possible to see Shepard exhale a breath of air at the very end if you did enough missions.
2) The one part that was annoying was the 3 nightmare sequences Shepard would have of the kid he did not save.
This part of Sheppard being traumatized by this and not all the other deaths around him was not believable because:
1. The kid refused Shepard's help and ran off
2. The other Alliance forces helped and tried to evacuate the kid to safety, although a reaper shot their vessel down anyway.

The original ending was bad, the new ending is double the length.

There's not a damn thing that's wrong with the ending. Only morons complain about it.

exactly. I urge any one who thinks that this ending is bad to go play KOTOR2 and watch its "dark path" ending. The entire f***ing ending is literally just the camera flicking.

Yes, it has an abysmal ending, it was well talked about at the time of it's release, just as ME3s is, I can think of a few games with bad endings too. But that's not what we're talking about and trying to shoo it away by saying "well <insert game here> had a bad ending too" is moronic.

Except that Eidos Montreal didn't promise an ending based on your decisions. The difference is that BioWare promised things they didn't deliver on, Eidos Montreal promised nothing of the sort.

My biggest problem with it is was I prefer happy endings, and in a game that had always given you choices and different outcomes, I expected one of those outcomes to be a happy ending. Not what ended up happening, which is that even if you do everything "right", you still get a miserable downer of an ending.

Was the KOTOR2 ending talked about?yes.

Was the KOTOR2 ending blown to high hell and ppl went out with torches and pitchforks screaming that it is "the worst ending to anything in the history of entertaiment of any kind",decide to never buy any obsidian game again, and sue obsidian over it like they did with me3?HELL NO.

Every thing that happened was just stupid and moronic as hundreds of games had MUCH worse ending and not even 1% of that BS happened.

I played KOTOR2 and got the "dark side" ending. It was significantly better than ME3's ending, so your point is lost on me.
