Honestly I don't buy used games very often, but I do like to rent before I buy. Blocking used games would also block rentals. So how am I supposed to know if a game is for me if I can't play it first? Demos usually don't sell me on a game. For example, after playing he MGR demo, I want to rent it and experience more of it before I buy. So if I can't rent and can't sell the game if I don't like it, then I'd rather not buy it instead of potentially wasting my $60.

I also can't support something that would basically destroy Gamestop, which is the ony reliable game retailer near me. And it would put Gamefly out of business too.

I also like to sell my games when I'm done with them. I can't support a company that won't let me sell my own property. I don't see DVD players that block used movies or car makers block used car sales.

"I'm fine with it as long as there will be less DLC"
"I'm fine with it as long as the savings are passed onto the consumer"

This kinda logic WILL NOT HAPPEN.

Paid DLC is happening more and more squeezing people of money and then there is the on-disc DLC trash thats been going round for a while now.

NO savings will be passed onto us, companies never do this anymore. They will keep all of it. IF theres something you should do its not believe everything big corps tell you. When they say the "second hand market is hurting them" well thats funny, because I was seeing used games as far back as the 16 bit era and NO-ONE complained.

Theres also other markets for different products that don't go on about second hand markets hurting them.

EA and some others have made booklets either smaller or not in the case at all now but have they lowered the price of the game to "pass on the saving to the consumer"? nope. Not even by just £1.

Bottom line is this - If a company wants money then they should make a game that people will buy that will last, this way second hand copies stay out of stores (people are playing it) and they sell more NEW copies.

THEY need to do there job better, they should NOT hurt the consumer by taking away more and more options.

Alright, I didn't read every post because most of it is the same over and over again. I have some points to address. People that collect games for old systems, why? You don't collect boxes of checkers do you? The console had its time, and now its time is over. Move along. For those that say they won't be able to find a game later on down the road, that is where digital downloads comes into play, they cut put the entire library online for you to download. Renting? That could all be digital as well. Trading games with your friends? People still do that? I haven't in 15 years. Also, stop using the analogy about not being able to buy or sell used cars, that doesn't make sense as the car would be the console in this case and it has nothing to do with the games. For the people that say that the developers already got their money for the used games, true they did, but instead of getting more money by you buying new games, you instead buy used and the developers don't get any more. Last but not least, people saying they can't afford to buy new, gaming is a hobby, not a right. If you can't afford it then find something cheaper to do.

I am sure I missed a few arguments but it just seems that people are scared of change, and this fear is holding us back.

The only way I'd buy a system that didn't allow used games would be if it had something like steam sales, I don't care about day one releases and would gladly play my other games until a game I want went on sale and with the backlog that I have that system would work

And another thing, what's the deal with people watching movies that are older than a few years? Those are old movies, stop watching them. Old movie watching time is over.

Yes, people still trade. Big Brothers still hook up LIttle Brothers. I give the games I don't play to my nephew and he's PSYCHED when he gets them. But you're right. we should all be happy little consumers.

Obviously yes. There is no reason not to trade games.
...
Unless your friend takes poor care of their games. Then yeah...don't trade with them. That wouldn't be a smart decision.

I just got done voting in the poll and normally I vote with the majority but when I voted that I wouldn't care at all I was shocked to see there were only 3% of you out there like me. I can't quite catch onto why so many people out there are so obsessed with used games. Is the $10 Gamestop gives you off the next used C.O.D really that big of a deal?

So I'm wondering, do THAT many of you really buy that many used games?

And

If by blocking used games Microsoft can make the price of all new games at most $40 by going completely digital would you still have the same opinion?

Gamestop is not the cheapest place to get used games. It's one of the most expensive. Buying used elsewhere can get you anywhere from $20-40 off.

Your analogy doesn't make sense, how often do you buy movies on VHS and watch them? You don't you buy Blu-ray.

A huge problem with stuff, though, is if someone loses the rights for something, and someone doesn't pick it up, or someone with no intents on using it picks it up, that game, if digital only, can seriously just flat out vanish forever, with no real way to copy it and get it out there, due to console-style DRM and whatnot. That's already happened with some digital versions of things, actually.

Really, that's my only gripe with an all digital future, well, that, and I don't trust Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony to not inflate prices for extra long periods of times. They're not Valve.
