| All the recent widespread of use of 'online activation' in the PC market and the proposed same on the xbox720 as well as banning used games it for one purpose, its the same reason sony killed ps2 BC on the ps3.
That is they dont want us playng old games. A game that requires online activation wont be installable probably in 10 years time. Might not even be installable in 5 years time.
Those games which only get shipped in limited stock once that stock is sold out they wont even be available to buy, which will leave people either fighting for pre order copies or paying inflated digital prices (if available on digital as not all games are).
All this because dev's cant restrain their budgets and publisher's profit needs. |

The reason for the removal of backward compatibility was the cost of the PS3. For the PS3 to be backward compatible, Sony had to include most of a PS2 inside the PS3. Removing it reduced the cost to make the console. It was a budgetary move, not one motivated by keeping people from playing older games. --- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMKUUUvjjzo Fan of: Steelers(6-time Champions), Red Wings(11-time Champions) |
| at the moment we have nothing but rumor that says this, however if used games being blocked because of the system needing to have a constant internet connection is true it wont just be the 360 that does this but it'll also be the ps4. both systems doing this together means mutal benifit for the ps3 and nextbox, only one of consoles doing this means suicide for that console. --- micro-transactions in $60.00 retail games, it will get worse devs are just boiling the frog slowly so we dont notice. |
| They remove backwards capability to reduce the cost of manufacturing the consoles as well as leaving open the possibility to later sell older games back to us in digital form. It's that simple. --- The People's Heel IF YA SMEELLLALALAO..WHAT THE ROB IS COOKING !!! 'B-| |
