...And now I don't want to tarnish the even 10000 by getting more achievements.

It just looks so nice. ;~;

imagine how nice 25,000 would look...Strive on young padawan.

It's a pretty decent measuring stick for how much time and money you've pissed away playing video games

I passed the 50k mark recently with Alpha Protocol. I think I am either close to or pass 51k with Dead Space 3.

Indeed it is.

I actually couldn't care less about achievements up until a little while back; once I got a wireless adapter for my Arcade and then Gold, something inside me clicked, and since then, I've bumped my total from a few thousand to 10 in less than a year.

There's just something about achievements that make them feel more rewarding than they should...

I just hit 30k myself. I've gotten a bit addicted to getting them I admit, though I won't go way out of my way for them-- I don't go for online ones or really insane ones. They do tend to add a little extra replay value to games for me.

Yeah, the ones you have to go REALLY out of your way for I don't like. They're hardly ever fun to get, and they take me out of the game.

I also hate it when I play a game ONLY to get the achievements for it. I know it's a waste of time that I could be spending playing games that I actually enjoy, but...I just can't seem to stay away.

Highest person on my friends list is 60,000. I'm still under 10,000 because I don't go out of my way for Achievements, and I play most single player games on PS3. So if you get 10,000 you get a discount on stuff you download? 1% seems pretty lame, but I guess it beats nothing.....just barely.
