Does Wireless and Changible D-pad really matter?

So, I've come to a question recently.
Does Wireless and Changeable D-pad controllers really matter?

In short, I always went out of my way to buy the Wireless 360 controllers, and ever since the changeable D-pad was introduced I've focused solely on buying them

However, I've come to the realization neither really matter.
To save money on batteries, I started using the charge kid with play cable. The charge kit would quickly lose the ability to hold it's charge more then an hour (which always upset) after 6-8 months and I'd begin to play with merely the charge cable hooked up 24/7.

The changeable D-pad, while feeling more traditional does nothing. All the problems with the d-pad are still there because it is still a floating mass instead of 4 separate button contact points. meaning you can still get up left or right when you press up (and happened way to often while playing DS3, meaning I'd switch weapons when I meant to get my bot out)

So what I am getting at, is they really don't matter on my end. I am trying to figure out why I am still trying to justify a Wireless purchase though..

They both have their pros and cons. I have a play and charge kit so I never have to worry about batteries and the changable d-pad is good for fighing games if you don't have a joystick.

I've used it for fighting games, however they seem to really not change much since the basic connection is the same. (Though in SF4 is seems a bit more responsive I will give it that)

As I said I use the charge kit too, but the actual battery pack seems to lose charge to fast.

D-pads should be gone next gen... But, I know that won't happen. Would be better with some kind of button with 8 directions so we can binds stuff in games... Next Gen should let us do or control games the way we want too. It also should let us skip to the next song in every game... Little things like this we need next gen.

Now about changeable D-Pads... No they don't matter. People who love fighters... usually buy a stick for them.

We need to keep the D-pad honestly, However I'd prefer to see it more akin to the Superior NES/SNES + Dpad or even the PS style with the Arrows. That way it works as both buttons AND a usable device.
It just adds more control options IMHO.
