Some people act like $60 a year is a lot.

That's nothing compared to real bills. Paying $60 for XBL a year is cake.

When PS3/PC/WIIU are free, it is a lot.

Agreed. Plus, there are deals available on Xbox LIVE Gold when it's close to renewal.

You can always find 12 months for under $50 a year anyway at any time, so it's not like the base price of $60 is what everyone is paying.

PSN+ is crap to Live. Hell, even with the ads I prefer the Dashboard to PS3's home screen and menu. I like the free game loans, but the store interface is sour ass, and while playing multiplayer free is nice, I always remember this exchange I had with my "Go Sony or Go Home" friend after I got my PS3:

"Cool, now we can play Uncharted 2 co-op or something."
"I'm ready!"
"Can you set your laptop up or get on Skype?"
"Why?"
"PSN you need a Bluetooth headset for and I can't find mine."
"Oh. Okay."
"And it's crappy quality anyway. Better to use Skype or RaidCall."
"Why's it crappy?"
"It cuts out, it's inconsistent, and Skype is just more solid for it. All the streamers use it."
"Oh. I guess that's one plus for paying for Live."
"**** Live, I'm not giving MS anything for no perks."
"You just said voice chat on PSN was horrid. Live's is pretty solid."
"Yeah, but this is free, so what do you expect? Just use Skype to get around it."

Might just be me, but if PSN's voice chat is that big of a problem to him, Xbox Live's higher quality is indeed a luxury worth paying for. That's just how I think, though.

Except that you're getting practically nothing for your money when you pay for Live.

Yeah if you're still paying full price for live...you must live under a rock.
