Is it weird that I feel the snes holds up better then the ps and ps2?

Am I/we going to feel the same way in 10-15 years about the 360? Do you think the 360 will hold up or just look really bad like the n64 and ps?

SNES was the peak of 2D sprite graphics at the time, only to be surpassed by the awesome indie and XBLA/PSN titles being made now.

PS1 on the other hand was experimenting with 3D and new game design. PS1 is more equivalent to the Atari, and 360/PS3 would be more like an SNES.

Honestly 2D sprites are far less offensive to my eyes than really crummy, low res 3D graphics which now hurt my eyes to look at.

The thing about PS3/360 is the 3D models, and polygon count are fine, its the low res textures I got issues with. Like when I look down at the ground, don't even need to zoom in, its all blocky and stuff. This is one of the areas where you notice a HUGE difference when playing PC games, is you can run way better textures.

I played Jak 2 on the PS2 a few weeks back and while it wasn't very pretty to look at all, i still managed to enjoy myself plenty.

I think so. 16 bit adventures never get old! It'll even hold up better than this current gen! I don't think it'll ever be painful to look back, literally, at the SNES gen, whereas the same can't be said about the gens afterward. I think once 1080p and 60 fps become the norm, it'll be the gens in between the SNES gen and that gen, which I believe will be next gen (hopefully), that'll be really difficult to go back to.

NeoGeo annihilates the SNES in the 2D sprite the department jack.

PS1, yes. PS2 - no.

By the time the PS2 was out, 3D graphics were starting to look pretty good. OF course there is the odd shocking title, but by and large, PS2 games are still very playable by today's standards.

No way, I couldn't go back and play those games regularly even if you paid me.

Now the SNES & Genesis on the other hand I'll play Megaman X and Sonic & Knuckles all day!
