Was XCOM a AAA title? "Cause if it was, I played it wrong.

It is. It's on the more niche side of an AAA, but it's still AAA.

Add Fire Emblem to the list of titles that don't match TC's description.

(Yes, Fire Emblem is AAA. It's made by Nintendo for crying out loud...well, Intelligent Systems but it's essentially the same thing).

Most games with tutorials/hints allow you to turn them off.

The TC is the same little kiddie who claimed to be a developer who only made AAA games and that all the rest of the market sucked.

Just because I make games doesn't mean I don't think they're all similar.

Just because you found out how to program in Basic on a Commodore 64 doesn't mean you "make AAA games".

I thought the meaning of AAA was pretty well established to refer to a game's budget.

Yeah, they should all play like some neckbearded basement-dweller's NES collection instead.

no.

they should be like dark souls and have the most minimalistic approach when it comes to tutorials.

FYI I was being sarcastic. Dark Souls could use a better tutorial.

I was having a similar debate about writing (books, film, comics) yesterday with a close friend who is of the opinion if you're not going for Mass Market Cash Money, you have no business creating anything.

Well, considering you're not either of these:

(42) VIP - Industry - Verified Industry Poster - User confirmed as a member of the game industry, although not directly involved in game production.
(43) VIP - Production - Verified Industry Poster - User confirmed as a member of the game industry, involved in game production.

The likelihood of you actually being involved in game development is slim to none.

But i'll humor you, what AAA games have you contributed to?
