Recommended turn-based RPGs on the Xbox?

Indie Games, which have provided me with more fun than some $60 titles:

Aphelion 1 and 2
Doom and Destiny
Penny Arcade 3

If you want RPGs, 360 really isn't your console... just sayin'

Tales of Vesperia
Lost Odyssey
Blue Dragon
MagnaCarta II
Eternal Sonata
Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy XIII-2
Dark Souls
Resonance of Fate
Record of Agarest War
Record of Agarest War Zero
Spectral Force 3
Operation Darkness
Infinite Undiscovery
The Last Remnant
Star Ocean: The Last Hope

He's right though. That's an incredibly weak list . . . but in fairness to the 360, none of the consoles got a ton of JRPGs this gen. Also, for better or worse, the traditional turn-based JRPG is all but dead on home consoles.

Due to rising production values and an allegedly diminishing consumer base, a lot of developers have pushed their RPG titles toward handhelds in place of consoles.

But some developers that were incredibly strong last generation are near absent this generation. Look at Atlus. They had, for PS2, just off the top of my head...

Persona 3
Persona 4
Digital Devil Saga 1
Digital Devil Saga 2
Devil Summoner 1
Devil Summoner 2
Nocturne

I know I'm missing some, and all of them were pretty great RPGs. Seven games.

Every one of those franchises is missing from the console market this generation.

Own both Dark Souls and Nier, really good games. I tried Star Ocean and Undiscovery and just couldn't get into them.

Compare that to the DS' and come back.

The DS doesn't have Tales of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey, Dark Souls, NiER, Resonance of Fate, Eternal Sonata, MagnaCarta II, and Record of Agarest War. I couldn't care less about the DS.

Ugh, I don't get the praise for Lost Odyssey. But then I'm only 2/3 of the way through the game. I see it is getting mentioned frequently so TC, I implore you, please read this review before you consider picking it up

Granted the reviewer isn't a fan of turn based combat so you can ignore his paragraph on that, but the rest of the points hit home for me.

Lost is such a boring game in every possible way.. it just moves way to slow and the voice acting is horrid, the 2 kids voices are the same person that did phil and lill in rugrats and i hate her voice.. even the simplest of random encounters take forever to beat.. its just a dragged out game for no reason and cmon 4 disk... really
