The Final Fantasy games appear to be made for 7-5 year old Japanese girls so I assume it would be just as appealing to American girls.

Yeah, if they're girls and young they should totally be into Final Fantasy. Hell, in number 13 you don't even make a single decision until 3 hours in so it's easy too if they're just casual gamers.

Sonic's UGC has some good classics on it that they might enjoy.
Viva Pinata could work, though the strategy required to do much is deceptively complex.
The Monkey Island games might also work.
American Mensa Academy - If I had kids I think I might FORCE them to play this, as it is actually pretty good prep for different standardized tests out there.
