Legacy of Kain came to mind when I saw this, mainly because of Soul Reaver 2 and Blood Omen 2, but it righted itself at the end. Mostly.

Personally, Hitman Absolution.

Though I have my fingers crossed that the next Hitman plays like the older games.

What are you smoking? SR 2 was great. BO2 and Defiance were piss poor though.
