MS now has no incentive to make XBLA games transfer over... PSN games don't.

I've been quite civil, and was having a reasonable discussion. I didn't even mention PC until I'd already posted 4 times or so about hardware architecture. Wouldn't want you to have an open mind or anything.

Microsoft will more than likely have backwards compatibility for 360/XBLA games since their entire architecture since the original Xbox has been PC based.

I'm just messing with you. I've just grown tired of some of the PC elitists who aren't as civil as you.

HOW COULD IT WORK WITH PSN TITLES IF THE ARCHITECTURE WON'T WORK FOR DISC-BASED TITLES?

How is the WII U doing it? Oh right, built in emulation...

It took the latter route - basing the architecture on the Wii to the detriment of innovation. It's not "built-in emulation", to emulate a completely different architecture you need an exponentially more powerful machine...and the Wii U isn't that much more powerful than the Wii.

It's times like this I'm glad I just switched entirely to PC. I have over a hundred games on Steam (I just started using it when Skyrim came out), paid roughly $600 for all of them put together.

And in the near future, I'm going to get System Shock 2, the rights of which finally came out of limbo. I've been looking for that game to get a digital release for years. It was released in 98 or so. And it will run on PC just fine.

Sure, some older games on PC have issues running on Windows 7 and such, but you can always fix that problem pretty easily with compatibility settings and whatnot. And if you buy it on Steam, or from GOG, it's pretty much guaranteed to work on modern platforms.

I used to be a hardcore PC gamer that mocked consoles. It was just frustrating. New operating systems, new graphics cards.. but wait, I have to update my motherboard because the new card is too big.

Alright all set, I am getting my parts from new egg. Aw crap, I am going to need a new power supply unit to run this beastly card.

After all that, I am on cloud 9. Then about 6 months later, new cards are coming out and not enough new games. Then when I do get a game, my card is only able to run at max settings for about a year. After that, medium-high to medium.

Then when I notice drops in my frames, I start getting annoyed and download every free anti virus and anti adware I can find.

Too much stress. I decided to keep my gaming separate from my PC.

When I'm doing a build, I use http://pcpartpicker.com it's pretty neat. You put in the parts you want and it will check them for incompatibilities (like if your chosen PSU can't handle the rest of the components, for instance) and searches various merchants for each component to help you get the best price.

I am a software developer, and so am almost always on my machine, so I like making sure it runs optimally regardless of hardware :)

It will cost $1000-1200 or so (up to $1500 if you get the absolute best mass-market single-GPU graphics card, which will usually be about $500) to build a PC. But after buying 20 games on Steam you've generally more than made up for the difference in price.

I get all excited building one though. Like a kid at christmas. It's like adult legos to me lol. That's half the fun.

It's "built in" as you you don't need anything else, no downloads no nothing the full emulation is already there you just boot up Wii mode and have access to everything...all you discs work your downloaded games work, etc... unless I'm mistaken. And so you're saying the Wii U is made less efficient by this? So they knowingly made the Wii U less of a system just to cram in Wii emulation...?

I tend to look at it this way...they didn't build the Wii U around the Wii, they built the Wii thinking of the future...
