The 720 CPU being beefier is strongly rumoured. Microsoft always intended to use Jaguar as its base with customisation, Sony wanted Steamroller, but that fell through and had to revert to vanilla jaguars.

Simple maths. Learn it.

Ps2 was more powerful than Xbox?

It really doesn't matter which one is more "powerful" than the other because the overwhelming majority of games released will come out on both systems thus the developer's will make them be essentially the same thing.

Neither system is going to be different enough in terms of power to separate itself from the other anyway. It's not going to be any different from the PS3/360 in that regard. Fanboys flipping out over semantics when in the end both systems present pretty much the same experience.

The difference in PS3 vs. Xbox is in things like Forza and Gran Turismo, not 2.1ghz vs 1.9ghz, or whatever.

Hell, PS2 was the weakest of the big 3 last gen.

Even the GCN, as much as some want to make fun of it and just call it a little purple lunchbox, was more powerful than the PS2, and the Xbox was more powerful than the GCN.

One major example is RE4.

The Ps2 version uses lower resolution textures, pre-rendered cut-scenes (instead of rendering them in real-time like every other version of the game does), has less water effects, and has a lower number of enemies possible on screen, and that is just what I can remember.

But, wasn't the PS3 supposed to have been "more powerful" than the 360, from a technical standpoint?

It doesn't matter how much more powerful a device supposedly is if the device is so hard to program for that developers can't take advantage of that power.

True, the xbox 1 was fair more powerful than the ps2. I'm hoping the next box is more powerful than the ps4, but I don't think it will be, partly because of microsoft aiming for the casual gamers with kinect as well as them going for a multimedia system.

I reckon the ps4 will be the most powerful. It would be brilliant if they suprised us and even sony at their conference, we'll have to wait and see.
