Why isn't FF7 on Xbox Live Arcade?

Kind of curious to know if there is some kind of contract that does not allow it to be on Xbox Arcade. What about other Square games? Why have they not showed up on Xbox Live Arcade or even as downloadable games On Demand?

Probably because Square-Enix don't want to focus on recoding it for Achievements.

I could use another dose of "Final Fantasy XI", though (Feb 2005 - August 2012, Cerberus server).

If it ever came to Xbox it'd likely be with a remaster. Is there any word of them working on a remake version of it or anything?

Probably the same reason that the original FF games are on PSN but not XBLA; Square has some strange obsession with its loyalty to Sony, regardless of the money and fans they could be making by expanding to more consoles.

Well technically did they have to do anything to the game to get it to work on PS3 though? It's been basically the same controller since PSX had analogs...

Except for the fact that at least FF is available on Windows Phone, right?

Which makes you wonder, if these games can be released for Windows Phone, why are we getting the short end of the stick here?

FFIII DS and Tactics:WotL are also available on iOS, for what it's worth.

Part of me wants to say this is probably just Square-Enix being out of touch and overly Japan-centric, where "big" mobile games are far more popular.
