This is a split board - You can return to the Split List for other boards.

Destiny has both FPS, and TPS view. More games needs to do this.

I like seeing my character if it's a third person game.

If it's first person, I like to stay "as" the person for as much as possible. I don't mind how Goldeneye did it, though; I just prefer the Half-life/Mirror's Edge approach.

If they make it a choice, such as Skyrim or Fallout, then I'm fine with it...
But if they alternate the views without a choice, then I have big problems with it.
I really hate the games that transition from 1st-person to 3rd-person without any control.
For example, I HATE it when FPS games go to a behind the back view every time you climb a ladder &/or take cover. It really annoys me.

Human Revolution drove me crazy with this. Just stick to one, damn it, or give us a choice.

The Star Wars Jedi Knight game series can be played in either first person view or third person view.
- Star Wars: Dark Forces (Mac/PC/PS1) - My first game of the Jedi Knight series and I had no idea that this game was part of the Jedi Knight series
- Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II (Mac/PC)
- Star Wars Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith (Mac/PC)
- Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast (GameCube/Mac/PC/Xbox)
- Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (Mac/PC/Xbox) - This is my favorite game out of the Jedi Knight series

So yeah, there have been shooter games that are both FPS and TPS.

Every game where you play a single human protagonist should be first person... only. 3rd person shouldn't even exist outside of squad-based and non-human protagonist games.

The writing was on the wall with Bioware the minute you could completely void all of your decisions with one choice in KOTOR.

The best game ever made has this option so I don't see why every game wouldn't.

Hint: It's Morrowind.

Morrowind has awful combat without mods and the third person view looks ridiculous.

every fps goes to third person view when taking cover because many believe its not practical using cover in fps by just crouching, however fear 3 did gow style cover.system entirely in first person and it worked fine.

Destiny needs third person view just like fallout.

I would love more if RPG's had both a action base combat and a turn based combat.

Why should only these games be limited to the better perspective?

Doesn't matter. His point is that it's been done long before now and has existed in the Elder Scrolls games for quite some time now and even their Fallout games.

But the option is always good, just so long as it plays just as well in third person as it does in first person. That was one of the problems with playing third person in Elder Scrolls/Fallout, the aim was always a little off.
