Assassin's Creed 3 was overall a good game. Yeah it had a lot of focus problems but sailing was fun, running around the frontier was fun. Haythem Kenway was f****** awesome and it had the best overall narrative as it dispelled the thoughts that

*SPOILERS*

The Assassin's were purely the good guys while the Templars were evil. Connor came across as a crazy loon while Haythem's only reason for being a targeted was because he happened to be the head honcho. Other then that, he was actually doing the most to protect the American Indians from westward expansion of the colonists and from a terrible leader (Washington). Part of what makes it great is it challenges the notion that freedom is something worth defending as an absolute because freedom also means the freedom to commit horrible atrocities.

Achilles knew this and tried to prevent Connor from getting too in love with the colonists, Haythem knew this and was even about to kill his own son for it. Desmond knew it and that is probably why he ultimately decided to take the riskier gamble of setting Juno free because billions upon billions of lives is not worth the price of an assured freedom. The game can be shown as a kind of hard line between what is necessary and what is scope that freedom is worth protecting and the game suggests that sometimes it isn't and that is thematically a lot stronger then the good guys versus bad guys of the previous installments.

So yes, I'm excited about Assassin's Creed 4 because of that reason

You don't get a gold star for being less bloody stupid than another bloody stupid person when you are still demonstrably bloody stupid. -the final bahamut
