I just got the new crappy Aliens Colonial Marines game from Redbox and when I went to the game details to install the game the option was not there... is it just specific to this game?

It's punishing you for buying a horrible game.
Playing: Ni no kuni, Far Cry 3, Skyrim , F1 2012
Waiting for: ELITE:Dangerous, GTA V, Pikmin 3, Dragon Age 3

I'll pay $2 to shoot dumb aliens for a day. Just want to know why It doesn't give me the option to install the dumb game. I have an original model 360 and am terrified of overworking that disc drive.

That's odd. My game is installed like usual.

Perhaps if I don't have enough memory on my hdd the option wouldn't show up?

Possibly. How much free space do you have on your HDD?

I would imagine the install game option would still be there, just when you go to install it, it won't hit 1% and give you an error stating not enough space.

I've got 8.8 Gb available.... maybe I'll delete some stuff and try again

i've actually had this happen to me before with a blockbuster rental (only time i rented a game since NES days, nba2k10)
could they have rental versions of some games? or could the ring in the center do something?

8.8 probably is why. Some of the games I have installed are 6.something GB. Clear some space and try again.

Edit:@beautifuldreams, no. The games in the redbox are the same you get at WalMart, target, gamestop, etc. The ring in the center is just a barcode for the machine to check out/in each disc. I have installed redbox games until I returned them no problem since getting a 250gb slim unit.
