Is my Xbox 360 broken (VIDEO)?

Turned it on for the first time in months, and I discover this.

I quizzed my nephew since he was the last one on it, as I found Forza 3 in there (which I don't like and never play), and the USB flap/cover won't spring back.

He protests his innocence and said it was like that when he tried playing it.

Anyone?

I haven't seen anything like this before. Maybe your nephew did do something to it because if it didn't he should have let you know right off the bat.

I guess it is. You might want to look at the stickied topic.

Mal: You want to run this ship?!
Jayne: Yes! Mal: Well. . . you can't.

Nah I can't find anything on it either. Well luckily I've got 2 months left of the RRoD warranty (can't believe I bought this thing almost 3 years ago already, where does the time go?), so it's currently switched on and wrapped in blankets on my bed.

Any chance MS will replace it with the new Slim design, or will they simply send me the old model?

Well now, the plot thickens. I just realised I wrapped it up with my 250GB HDD attached, so thought I'd best remove it since I don't want that getting hot.

As I removed it, the 360 loaded straight away to the menu and it seems it was the HDD that's broken.

You know that is bad for the console, right?

That was going to be the point. Force RRoD = free replacement.

It's out of warranty for any other faults.

Anyway, it was the HDD, not the console.

when did you buy it?

the rrod warranty is only 3 years

and you don't have to actually have the red ring, just tell them you do, they have no way of proving it

I speak from experience
