why can't people write down passwords? ):

I don't write them down because I'm paranoid someone will find my passwords lol.

I have a system tho like 6 random words that I cycle in different order with certain numbers.

What I hate is systems like Apple ID, where two wrong guesses forces a password reset, which just adds to the problem because you forget you already had to change your password so you keep trying your old password, forcing yet another password change.

And then they go as far as making you have to choose a password that you haven't used in the last year as well.

Lol same here. Not the password part though. My password is actually a pretty big huge ultra secret. Only I know the password. And even if somebody learned everything from my likes to dislikes they still won't crack the code. I know one of my emails from Google warned me that some IP address from China tried to access my account 287 times. Pretty crazy. My porn subs were tied to that email address! Don't want anyone to know what kinda crazy things I like.

Just call customer support chief they will fix you all up.

Do this, and you will not have to wait 72 hours. Tell them you simply forgot your password. There are other ways for them to prove you are who you say you are. Phone call should last about 10 to 15 minutes depending on how many times you get bounced around.

I had a similar issue two weeks ago. I've had my account since 2008-09; I hadn't needed my password since then. It asked me to log in to my account using my e-mail and password, and I could not remember the password. The e-mail it was tied to was no longer existent (my fault for not updating it), and I could not remember the answer to my security question either. I tried the questionnaire as well, and MS said I did not answer enough questions correctly. I'm sorry - why would I know the last four digits of my prepaid card when I threw the card away after using it?

After talking to a Microsoft representative on the phone, he could not help me access my account (since I couldn't remember the security question). However, he did give me codes for 2 years and 1 month of free Xbox Live service on a new account. While I'm not thrilled about losing saves, DLC, and some Arcade games, he went out of his way to help me.

Yet another reason why paying with a credit card is a much better alternative usually.

Also, it's one thing to forget the password and security question. But it's another thing to not remember the litany of other questions they ask. Also, they ask you (or at least they did me) to access the console itself on which you usually play.

They never gave me the console info option. Many of the questions I could not answer were related to the old e-mail account. It has been 3 years since I could access that account, so I could not tell the subject of a recent e-mail or who was one of my last contacts.
