Microsoft's grand scheme to get Japan to buy 360s

Absolutely INGENIOUS! :D

Hmm, I wonder if that counts all Japanese consoles, or if they do an IP check to see if they're actually in Japan. For example, Caladrius and Saidaioujou are going to get a TON of playtime on Japanese consoles outside Japan.

MS should have offered 800 MSP, not 400. Out of the 20 games listed I see Monster Hunter Frontier clockin' in waaay more hours than the rest. From April 20th to June 19th is... 60 days and if you do: 1,000,000 hours / 60 days = 16,666 hours of game time (each day). That's crazy...

I like how they have different tiers of rewards. Like they already know they'll never reach the 1 million mark so better have a couple back up rewards in place.

That's not really ingenious but it is a nice effort. Microsoft is trying and that's good.

You know, whenever a poster uses the terms "b**** and whine" or "piss and moan" or something similar, I simply ignore the entire post.

It's also impossible seeing how there are only 24 hours in a day.

It's not an attempt to get Japan to buy 360s.

This type of program is their attempt to keep their existing consumer base (1.5 million to 2 million people) interested in the xbox brand so that they can have a decent launch in Japan for the 720. If even half of these gamers buy the 720 at launch, it would be a nice sales boost (and it is likely that a percentage like that will buy the system in Japan because to stick with the xbox brand in Japan means you're most likely a dedicated fan).

Yeah, giving away points to buy games they clearly don't want to play isn't going to bring in any new customers. But it will foster some measure of loyalty with the current group.
