the $40 DOES include the original full game btw...and your user names fit pretty well.

Yep, I really liked the demo but I knew they would probably release a new version and it's an SP game so no harm in waiting for a price drop.

I'm interested in this...

Yea I missed it the first time around played the demo but couldn't really get into it. At 40$ with more content sounds like a buy!. But before I do I need to dl the demo again to make sure I give it another fair chance.

There was fast travel in the original. Thing is there was one fast travel crystal you could acquire through the first play through (you could buy as much as you wanted on a New Game+).
You could place the crystal anywhere on the map & fast travel to that one place.

In Dark Arisen, there are like 4 or 5 of those crystals you can find in the map & then place anywhere you want.

The original game took 40+ hours to beat. 60-80+ if you did all the sidequests & DLC quests, plus leveled up your classes.

What does this game compare to?

RPGs Ive enjoyed recently

Demons/ Dark Souls
Witcher 2
Mass Effect series
Alpha Protocol

I played a few hours of Dragon Age Origins but didnt really like it that much, I stopped playing it. I think a big part of it was the gameplay, I am just not a fan of that old school style. But it also seemed very generic fantasy stuff.

As much as I enjoyed Dragon's Dogma, I won't be picking up Dark Arisen, not unless they release it as a standalone DLC at a cheaper price or it drops in price, which I have a feeling it will pretty quickly.

I finished everything in the original game, but they really could of just released this as DLC on the marketplace for people who already own the game. This is just the same thing they did with SFIV and MvC3.
