It only seems as if it is "Sickingly overpaid" because you don't have the opportunity (or more accurately, privilege) of looking at the financial records of Activision and how much profit they have made.

Privilege? Everyone has the opportunity to look at the financial statements - they're a publicly traded company, they have to release them. SEC rules and all.

There. You're now privileged to all the information you need to make an informed opinion about the situation.

By the way, Activision|Blizzard made $418 million in 2010, $1.048 billion in 2011, and $1.149 billion in 2012.

You could put a monkey in charge of Activision for the next 12 months and it would still pull in hundreds of millions in profit from CoD and WoW, therefore that monkey should be paid tens of millions?

To put this in perspective, the guys from Infinity Ward were suing Activision for $54M in unpaid royalties from MW2, after having been paid $28M. That's $82M for *the entire studio*, split between 100 staff or whatever who actually created the game which was responsible for probably half of Activision's profit.

That $65M pays for the average salaries of about 775 developers.

How many salaries are paid in stock awards?

Activision's profit increased from $418 million to $1.048 billion between 2010 and 2011. A monkey could pull in hundreds of millions in profit, but can it pull in A BILLION DOLLARS in profit for 2 straight years?

If I were a shareholder, I might have a problem with Kotick getting his grubby little fingers on monies I'd like to receive through a dividend . . . but I'm not a shareholder and I don't feel like Activision is destroying the gaming industry, so I'm not offended by this news.

Not much. Game Developer magazine has posted those stats some times, e.g. in 2011 they said 83% received additional income and the average additional income was $21K.

Do you think if the CEO were gone tomorrow that Activision would suddenly forget how to make a CoD for every holiday season, or how to collect WoW subs every month?
