I'm pretty sure most kotaku articles are just longwinded jokes or parodies and you're all being played for chumps.

It isn't too far from a crapton of left-wingers and political correctness.

Yes, because Bible-thumpers don't try to censor people either? The dumbass antics apply to both political affiliations.

.Why is there condemnation & why is it socially unacceptable to make a joke about race or religion

There's not. People who aren't idiots can recognize when there's not any real hate behind a joke, and laugh instead of writing long whiny articles about it.

Or long whiny diatribes on message boards for that matter.

The "bundle of sticks" f word has been used over 1200 times on Twitter in the past half hour alone. I don't think all ~1200 people are homophobic people, but when they use that word the way they do, or if they use the word "gay" as a pejorative term, it sends a message (intentional or otherwise) that there's something wrong with being gay. You wouldn't use the n word to describe a white idiot, so how is the f word any better?

Overtly....no. However, when I hear the term "beatnik", which is half of the portmanteau "Jalopnik", it hardly implies tradition conservatism to me.

ITT the biggest logical reach I have ever seen on the internet.

Playing devil's advocate, but I'm seeing the N-word being dropped just as much on that. I suspect it's less casual, of course.

(There's at least one more of these sites that tracks all slurs, marking geotagged ones on a map, but it's a non-contextual filter, so a conversation like this topic'd set it off. It covers racial and sexual-preference slurs, as well as "midget," don't think it covers religious or transgender slurs-but either way the thing scrolls faster then you can actually read it.)

If nothing else, she does have a nice rack.

And people wonder why gamers come off as sexist.

Look it up. There's a picture of her using the oculus rift device and she's got a nice rack.

Google search turns up nothing.

See? Great rack

*edit: Unless that isn't her. This is the first time seeing the video and they showed off a ton of red heads. If that isn't her with the great rack then the red hair is the only thing she has going for her and that isn't enough to not punch her in the throat.

Jokes can be funny or not, that's a matter of opinion but what really makes a joke inherently racist or homophobic is context and intent.

FYI....99.99999% of the people on the net whining about a lack of "political correctness" and claiming that certain things are racist or homophobic (when they're really not) are white straight people.

And as always, Steve Hughes said it perfectly...."Nothing happens when you're offended".

Anybody who goes to a comedy show, hears something they don't like, and demands a refund and an apology from the comedian needs to be charged DOUBLE for their ticket and get slapped by the comedian for being a spineless wimp.

Hey guys, I've got a bunch of stuff in my house that someone in the world will surely find offensive for one reason or another. Does anyone have the number for the fire department that comes and burns all your stuff so it doesn't offend anyone?

It seems to me that the people who always get upset at articles like these are the people that are afraid they won't be able to make the very jokes the article is about.
