This is a split board - You can return to the Split List for other boards.

Do you prefer games with cinematic style, or games that do their own thing?

I don't like when games force you to press x to do binary actions to continue the game.

Like the stupid MW2 ice climbing or the beginning of battlefield 3.

You mean a quick time event? They can work well in some situations(opening heavy doors God of War to simulate weight/struggle). But most of them are kind of annoying(Resident Evil 4) in that you die or fail a mission.

I never thought about it, but yea, they are in most cinematic styled games.

most people consider the open door/treasure chest button prompts THE WORST.

Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Weep, and you weep alone.

Must be me. I really don't mind it. The 5 minute long qte versus krauser in RE4 is the worst type imo.

Well, The Krauser knife fight is pretty much the worst QTE in the entire history of gaming.

At least you only do it that one time, the door opening/treasure chest prompts happen constantly throughout the games.

I guess I can see how they can be seen as tedious, but for me it adds a subtle emphasis that feels nice.

IMO that part was really good.

I really like QTEs that are done right.

Cinematic games tend to have absolutely no replay value.

everything.

liking that QTE shows poor taste and only exacerbates your fate.

It got my blood pumping but for the wrong reasons. If you fail just once you die and start it all over, but with different button sequences. My brain would anticipate a certain order only to be wrong(noooooooooooooo) and then I would have to start it over. Part of it may have been me sucking, but the other part is the qte sucking.

I'm a fan of qtes that add a little spice to the game, but aren't a featured part of the gameplay itself.
