Turned a Guitar Hero World Tour drumset into an electronic drumkit?

I tried but I believe mine needs midi out and not in..(which begs the question of why theres a midi in)

I've got an old GHWT kit laying around and went to buy an Alesis SR-16 drum machine.

So now I'm stuck with it and trying to see if I can

A.) Order a whole new kit without the processor and use the Alesis. I was considering the rockband Ion. But I can't get a clear shot of the inputs/outputs but ideally I need bass, snare, 3-5 toms, high hat and a crash or ride though added cymbals would be a bonus maybe 1-2. To be able to practice drums quietly in my apartment as close to my real drum kit as possible. Which would put me in the money for the Ion if it works with my processor and if I could find one...

B.) The other possibility is to take the processor back and use that credit to put towards and electric kit.

Pretty sure there was just some program you could download on your computer, plug in the usb from the set, and play.
