If you don't wanna click the link

Xbox's tiny text says...
***“Games with Gold” free games offer available 6/10/13-12/31/13 for qualifying paid Gold members only. Xbox 360 games (selected by Xbox) available for free download from Marketplace only during specified half-month window; available games may vary by country. Some titles may only be available for download by account holders 18+. Kinect and/or hard drive required for some games. See xbox.com/live

They've already said that the games will come until the Xbox One is released, and that's been announced with a November release date. The only reason for the 12/31/13 date is because after that they're going away.

Guess these are rentals, just like PS+ eh?

I don't do digital games unless I dont have a choice. So I wouldn't care anyway

It's a nice gesture, though odd just prior to a new console's release, but personally, I do prefer the more current games PS+ has given me as opposed to free games I played years ago. Saying "hey look I got a $5 used game for free from M$ nah nah nah PS+ people!" seems pretty stupid...when they get games like Sleeping Dogs, Saints Row 3, Spec Ops The Line, Vanquish, Xcom, etc for "rentals"... It's still nothing compared to PS+, but I'll take free games regardless!

First, they say "yours to KEEP on the xbox 360".

Second, they don't list any kind of expiration date at all, the three asterisk thing is only listing the start and end dates of the offer itself.

I think that means the promotion ends that date. Meaning, the games you get you can keep, but no new games will be added after that point.

Yea...just like it says you can only download the specific games during that month. They "go away", but they don't leave your 360. It's just a time limit on the promotion.

This ^

Use common sense people.

They'll give 2 free games until the new console releases. It clearly means you'll have until that time period to download the games before they aren't free anymore.

No Thanks

No where does it state that you lose the license on Jan 1st '14.... Thats just.the window of opportunity.

All these free games will be yours to keep until either your 360 breaks and they have ceased 360s Live or you get rid of your 360.

Once again Microsoft doesn't seem to know what they are doing or saying.

They've already said they're only giving free games out until November when the Xbox One releases. Maybe you guys don't know this, but November isn't the 12th month.
