Price Cut on Slim?

#1supersonic9123Posted 6/19/2013 1:24:13 PM
With the Xbone and the new 360 coming out, when is the price on the existing stock of 360 Slim gonna officially drop at retail? I mean, it doesn't make any sense to have the new 360 and old 360 selling at the exact same price points (then again, Microsoft doesn't seem to be making a lot of sense or acting rationally or logically lately...) Frankly, I'm surprised they HAVEN'T announced a price drop yet.

I think MS is hedging it's bets by continuing to sell the 360 at it's current price until after the Christmas season. Or at least until the actual release of the XBone. This is only my guess.

I meant, when the redesigned 360 hits shelves in a couple of days, won't they immediately discount the price of the Slim, since people won't buy the Slim if it costs the exact same amount as the new X360?

Don't bet on it.

It wouldn't make sense to sell the new AND old 360 at the same price for the same memory requirements - people would only buy the new one.

They're still technically the same system. The Old version is called the '360 Slim S', the new Model is called the '360 Slim E'.

IGN has an unboxing on the newest version too and they say its not even worth getting. They removed the optical-out port and the buttons are no longer touch sensitive.

The price is going to stay the same until the Xbox One comes out.

If anyone plans on buying 360 slim your best bet is to try and find a deal online. My OG Xbox 360 (launch day system) just crapped out on me so I was forced to get a new slim. I managed to find a 250 gb Holiday bundle (the one with Forza 4 and Skyrim) on ebay for $170. Which was a pretty good deal.

But are they still going to produce the 360 S, or just the 360 E? It doesn't make any sense to sell them both for the same price unless they are going to produce both. And why'd they remove the features from the E?

I'm so glad I bought my slim when I did.

Halo Reach Edition and Star Wars Edition. I only use my matte white system for gaming. The rest are in boxes :D

No they are not. The new '360 Slim E' is replacing the '360 slim S'. Just like when the '360 Slim S' came out it, it replaced the older style 360 system (Premium, Arcade, Pro, Elite). When the '360 Slim S' runs out of stock, that's it.

Then why not immediately drop the price on the original Slim? That's what they did to the older units when the original Slim came out. Also, it's the only thing that makes SENSE if they want to get rid of the Slims.
