Help my CD Drive is jacked!! (slim 360)

#1LonnyJohnsonPosted 6/21/2013 7:31:04 PM
I guess my the cord for my controller was touching the sensitive open tray button and I never realized it but now the tray is stuck but I can use a butter knife to open it. When I close it it won't open again but I have to use the knife to get it open. Just wondering how I can fix this. I tested out my games and they're still working thankfully.

And the model of the system is?

The Phat models get stuck all the time. (No pun intended)

Edit: Never mind, I'm blind

Sorry, don't know about the Slims

So this is how scratched disks are created. Some person doesn't know how to open/close a tray and then decides to use a knife to get tray out.

Amazing.

So what's the problem exactly? The disc tray just won't eject? unless you mess with it?

That sounds like the same thing the Phats would do. I mean, I guess you could find someone who works on them or send it off to MS if it's a big deal to you.

If you leave a game in does it eject fine?

SnowFox7 ~I heard him use the term 'tarantula downpour', which would actually have been significantly worse than the rain we had that day.

My repair shop fixes this issue for $49.99. So your options are to find one or to take it apart yourself, take apart the drive and try to realign it. Good luck.

Oh man, mine does that. If I leave a game in, it ejects fine, but if I close the tray with no game or other disc in there, it won't open, and I have to bust out a paper clip to open it. I have one of the fat ones, btw.

And TC, I guess it just depends on how big of a hassle it is to you. if it is that big of a hassle, then it may be worth it to send it off to get it repaired. There also used to be places where you could actually order 360 cd drives from, assuming you're comfortable enough in working with that stuff to try to replace the drive yourself.

If it is not that big of a hassle to deal with though, I'd just try to make do with it. That is what I am doing with mine.

And to think...people laughed at me when I said MS could out-EA EA any day of the week.
