Kingston Flash Drive?

#1NUKER002Posted 6/28/2013 5:04:56 PM
Has anyone tryed a Kingston Flash Drive in the Slim, I'm not shore if it will fit in the Slim (S, not E)? Now I don't have the Slim, it's been shipped, or I'd put My NETGEAR WPN111 in (with it unpluged) to check the size, since it is bigger then the Flash Drive! The Kingston Flash Drive Dimensions are "2.25 x 0.68 x 0.39 Inches" (57.18mm x 17.28mm x 10.00mm), I don't think it will fit in My fat 360, but it's hard to tell form the pics I've seen!

The USB ports are sunk in, and not every Flash Drive will fit in the space, this is the only reason I'm asking!

Not sure but one of my flash drives won't fit in the back port. but the front to work just fine. It's the way the flashdrives shaped.

I have a SanDisk about the same size and it fits without any problems ... It works in the front ports as well as the back ports ...

Do what I did when I bought a Lambo Murcielago USB drive that was too big to fit in ANY of the 360's USB ports by itself, get a USB extender.

They make them as short as 3 inches, or 10 feet or more.

Plug the extender into one of the rear USB ports, and plug your USB drive into the extender.

That's also a far better and safer way to use USB drives that are always being plugged in and unplugged all the time, that way the 360's USB port is never worn out, only the port of the extender cord, and that can be easily and cheaply replaced.

I'm trying to avoid extender cables, I have like 4 or 5 of them, including a USB 3.0 I just got to go with My new USB 3.0 Card! The thing is there is always a speed loss with extender cables, and extra power used! And since I did not order the Kingston Flash Drives yet I could just find 1 that is not as cheep, to keep form putting extra stuff on My NEW system!

1. Even with any kind of "speed loss" from a cable, it's still FASTER than the HDD built into the damn systems.

2. Extra power? WTF, do you pay for electricity by the milliamp or something?

3. Using the extenders and wearing them out instead of wearing out the 360's USB ports is FAR better than having those ports die from excessive plugging and unplugging and cost more to replace than the whole system costs. Replacing a measly $5 cable is FAR better than paying out $150+ dollars in labor costs to replace the fried USB ports on the motherboard of a game system.
